Olexii Azarov

Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Vinnytsia National Technical Universit, Vinnytsia, Ukraine

Prof., Dr. Olexii Azarov was born on April 23, 1950. He graduated from the Taganrog Radio Engineering Institute in 1972 and has been a dedicated member of the Vinnytsia National Technical University (VNTU) since 1977. Over the years, he has progressed through various academic ranks, from graduate student (1977-1980) to assistant, senior lecturer, and associate professor in the Department of Computer Engineering, ultimately serving as the Department Head from 1988. He obtained his PhD in 1980 and defended his doctoral dissertation in 1995, becoming a Doctor of Sciences (Eng.).

In addition to his role as Head of the Department, Prof. Azarov served as the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Engineering from 1995 to 2020. An esteemed expert in the design of high-precision, high-speed analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters with weight redundancy, he is also the Editor-in-Chief of the international scientific and technical journal “Information Technologies and Computer Engineering” and serves on the editorial board of the “Visnyk of Vinnytsia Polytechnical Institute".

Prof. Azarov is actively involved in organizing academic competitions, including the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in Programming and various regional contests in WEB design and informatics. He is also a member of the Scientific and Methodological Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in the field of Information Security.

A recipient of the “Excellence in Education of Ukraine” honor and the title of Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine (2007), Prof. Azarov has received several diplomas for his contributions to education and technology from various Ukrainian governmental bodies. He has supervised the postgraduate program at VNTU, mentoring 16 PhD candidates since 1993 and contributing significantly to the academic community.

With over 520 published scientific and methodological works, including 13 monographs and 250 patents, his research focuses on high-performance, fault-tolerant information and measuring complexes based on number systems with weight redundancy. His scientific contributions include more than 600 publications, with approximately 350 inventions and numerous textbooks, 10 of which are endorsed by the Ministry of Education and Science. His works are indexed in prominent databases, including Scopus and Web of Science, showcasing his impactful contributions to the field.

Under his guidance, the theory of fault-tolerant information and measuring complexes has advanced significantly, leading to the development of self-calibrating multi-bit high-precision ADCs and DACs. This innovative approach allows for substantial reductions in manufacturing technology requirements and enhances system performance.

Prof. Azarov leads the Scientific and Technical Center “Analog-Digital Systems” at VNTU. Since 1991, he has facilitated the design, manufacture, and implementation of 25 developments in Ukrainian enterprises, including the satellite GPS system and the “Synchro” time display devices.

For his outstanding contributions to science and technology, he has been honored with multiple awards.

Prof. Azarov is the founder of the Information Technologies and Computer Engineering journal, which has been published at VNTU since 2006, and continues to serve as its Editor-in-Chief. His scientific school is dedicated to advancing both fundamental and applied research, fostering high-level personnel training, and integrating educational processes with practical applications.
