An improved model for determining topological locality in the Internet

Gennadiy Poriev

Topological distance measurement methods are key to improving the efficiency of peer-to-peer and distributed networks. In contrast to many existing or proposed methods that typically use external infrastructure, a purely computational client-side metric, CARMA, has been developed and improved, which is based on pre-computed topological structures of the Internet. Experimental verification has shown that this metric corresponds quite well to the actual measured topological distance.
