Method for rapid detection of single deviations in the weights of successive approximation ADC bits with weight redundancy

In this article we present a method for operational detection of a single bit’s weight deviation for successive approximation ADC that is implemented using weight redundancy. The method is based on analysis of a coding scheme in the main coding process. The method relies on the fact that a set of code combinations of ADC will be limited when applying weight redundancy. A relation between the list of possible code combinations in the output of ADC and the bit deviation was analysed. The accuracy and restrictions of the method were evaluated
